چکیده
Novel methods of neural stimulation are transforming the management hyperkinetic movement disorders. In this review diversity approach available is showcased. We first describe most commonly used features that can be extracted from oscillatory activity central nervous system, and how these combined with an expanding range non-invasive invasive brain techniques. then shift our focus to periphery using tremor Tourette's syndrome illustrate utility peripheral biomarkers interventions. Finally, we discuss current innovations which changing landscape strategy by integrating technological advances use machine learning drive optimization.

Uncommon Applications of Deep Brain Stimulation in Hyperkinetic Movement Disorders
BACKGROUND In addition to the established indications of tremor and dystonia, deep brain stimulation (DBS) has been utilized less commonly for several hyperkinetic movement disorders, including medication-refractory myoclonus, ballism, chorea, and Gilles de la Tourette (GTS) and tardive syndromes. Given the lack of adequate controlled trials, it is difficult to translate published reports into ...
متن کاملTreatment of hyperkinetic movement disorders.
Parkinson's disease, the most common hypokinetic movement disorder, has received much attention from the clinical and scientific community, but there has been a relative paucity of comprehensive reviews of hyperkinetic disorders, even though they are equally or even more disabling. Hyperkinetic movement disorders include tremors, dystonia, chorea, tics, myoclonus, stereotypies, restless legs sy...
متن کاملMovement disorders emergencies Part 2: hyperkinetic disorders.
Although movement disorders do not usually present as neurologic emergencies, there are times when the abrupt onset of an unusual movement abnormality results in emergency department or intensive care unit consultations. Part 1 of this review discussed hypokinetic movement disorders emergencies. Part 2 provides a diagnostic approach to the recognition and treatment of hyperkinetic movement diso...
متن کاملCommon therapeutic mechanisms of pallidal deep brain stimulation for hypo- and hyperkinetic movement disorders.
Abnormalities in cortico-basal ganglia (CBG) networks can cause a variety of movement disorders ranging from hypokinetic disorders, such as Parkinson's disease (PD), to hyperkinetic conditions, such as Tourette syndrome (TS). Each condition is characterized by distinct patterns of abnormal neural discharge (dysrhythmia) at both the local single-neuron level and the global network level. Despite...
متن کاملNeuropathological Diagnostic Considerations in Hyperkinetic Movement Disorders
Neuropathology of hyperkinetic movement disorders can be very challenging. This paper starts with basic functional anatomy of the basal ganglia in order to appreciate that focal lesions like for instance tumor or infarction can cause hyperkinetic movement disorders like (hemi)ballism. The neuropathology of different causes of chorea (amongst others Huntington's disease, neuroacanthosis, and HLD...
